RE: I've been thinking too much....again!

>>I don't think there's a whole lot he could do to stop bootleggers.

I agree with you concerning there is little Jimmy can do as most of the
boots come from Japan where there seems to be little or no regulation...

>>A lot of hoarded boots are in danger of being made irrelevant depending on
what Jimmy releases. Obviously Jimmy isn't going to release whole shows,
but unless you're a completist there are many Zep fans who can live without
yet another version of Moby Dick or a bad performance of The Ocean.

Maybe there is a correlation with all of the new boot releases?, but
concerning making the releases irrelevant I doubt we will see anything close
to complete shows as it seems Jimmy and Robert only want to release perfect,
in their minds, versions of live songs..More likely, IMHO, it seems we may
get a chronological compilation set with songs from different shows as Jimmy
has been rumored to be working on forever. Not a bad thing mind you as I for
one will take any bone they are willing to throw us! But I would be shocked
and pleasantly surprised if the boys released a complete show in
unadulterated soundboard quality. If they do release a complete show and
Jimmy does his Frankenstein splicing and overdubbing I would still want the
unaltered boot as I am not a big fan of the studio "sweetening" of live
recordings. Let me have the show warts and all! I want to close my eyes am
relive the moment................

Unless Jimmy releases the complete SB quality show I don't think the
bootlegger has much to fear that his product will become obsolete...how many
of you have multiple copies of the same show from different labels just
because they " found" a tape with an additional 5 minutes of the show? or it
is in a little better quality?! Look at the Earls Court stuff coming out
now, same stuff different package, no? bet it all gets
bought..................And look at the Eddie show!

Just look at the Who's official re-release of the complete Live at Leeds.
They finally release the whole thing and I have had several Who fans tell me
they prefer the boot release as it sounds better and the songs are in
sequence on the boot.......Don't worry about the Boot dealers they will
still sell their wares.........

As always JMHO.................
