This thread made me remember how way back I figured that different
bootleggers (or, the people who let hoarded tapes out) mark
their tapes with cuts in songs or between songs. Some bootleggers
with perverse humour could find a spot in a song where the cut
matters more than in other places. So they'd alter the flow of
the rhythm, and, essentially how the song is percieved. Pretty
lowbrow, but still, it's an art form.
Or then I'm too twisted miself! * lol *
The solo in 7/28/73 No Quarter on Another Magic bootleg is cut.
It's the same as in TSRTS soundtrack, but still, Page was tuned
in to that particular piece of music that night.
The cuts in 6/23/77 and 9/4/70 have been covered up pretty well
by fans or our favourite bootleggers, but I've never gotten well
into 9/29/71 because of the numerous cuts! All the sources have
short tape blips all over them, but that's a different story
altogether. I guess the shortcoming ending of Dazed at 5/24/75 EC
has always bugged me personally.
Thanks, you're a great bunch! :D
