Hello FBO community.
Thank you Nic for explaining the whole fiasco about teh T-shirts.
We have decided to do a logo contest, and this is the official
announcement for that. The winning logo will replace the previously (very
well done btw) FBO logo featured on Buckeye's web page, that was created
by Rainn. While this logo is very well done, it features the Swan Song
logo which supposedly is copyrighted, which is why we cannot use it on the
shirts.
The front breast of the shirts will feature the words "For badgeholders
Only" and the new logo will be on the back of the shirts.
The logo CANNOT have any material that could be even remotely considered
copyrighted. In other words, the crashing Hindenburg MIGHT cause a
problem, however, a flying Zeppelin will not.
A good rule of thumb is this- if it is in question, don't use it.
Time is running short, Nic and I decided that we will allow logos to be
submitted for the next two weeks. All submissions must be sent to Nic
Santoli at nsantoli@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Please do NOT send them to me. Nic will
be getting a web page up within the next couple of days to display the
logos on. The deadline will be Friday August 2nd, midnight, eastern time.
Voting will take place from August 3 (Happy Birthday to me, I get to start
counting votes!) until midnight on August 7, and within a week of that we
should ahve things rolling, provided all 72 shirts have been sold. If this
time is to short and people who want to design logos email me, the
deadline will be extended if needed. We kept it down to two weeks
because....well we want this thing to get over with :)
Also, if you want a shirt and never ordered one, a few orders have been
cancelleed due to the extreme delay....we have a limit of 72 shirts, I
need to figure out how many are available and I will make an announcement
to the list.
Any questions please email me at mixer@xxxxxxxx and put in the subject
"Logo question" so I don't miss it. Or you can also feel free to email Nic
at nsantoli@xxxxxxxxxxxx, he is the one making the printing arrangements.
The following are the rules for the format of the design:
Mandatory Formatting:
Individual files no more than 1 MB
Do not email compressed files (JPEG compressions are ok, BUT they do not
output in spot color)
All type must be embedded into the image
Reccomended formatting:
Adobe Illistrator (Al or EPS) versions 7.0 and earlier are the best to use
when emailing vector "line" art.
The Printers utilize the following software (on Macs):
- -Freehand 8.0
- -Photoshop 5.5
- -Quark Express 4.1
They do NOT use: Coral Draw, Poer Point, Pagemaker, Microsoft Word, and
any other Windows based "office" software
All other graphics- in EPS or TIFF format.
- -make sure spot and process colors are saved accordingly
- -in high resolution (300ppl)
(JPEG and GIF files do not separate in spot color, they seperate only in
RGB and CMYK color, and GIF's are usually ion low resolution (72ppl) and
will not work for printing.
- -
Things to avoid----------
1) files that need to be converted to EPS or TIFF, because they're still
saved in their native software format
2) Art to be printed in spot color is generated in process (CMYK) color in
the file
3) any type in the graphic should be embedded in the graphic to avoid
complications
Thanks, and Good Luck!
