On the level of Floyd, hear hear J. Although I was too young to hear any of the
previously
mentioned (Zep, Floyd, The Who) bands in their prime, I grew up with parents
who listened
to this music to bring back fond memories of their wild lives prior to Mom
discovering she
was three months along 'avec moi'. ;) Regardless, when I took up an interest in
this music
in my early teenage years (see 'late DG/early FBO' or talk to Mixer ;)), I
found that listening
to Post-Waters Doug Gilmour-led Pink Floyd was a true method to induce vomiting
after excessive
consumption of alcohol. Solo work from former Floyd members never impressed me
either, with
exception to Waters' "Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking" (speaking of which, anyone
seen/heard
Jeff Lybarger around?).
However, even as I've grown older, my devotion to the "dinosaurs of rock" (as
some call them)
continues... my pennance this month is attending Ozzfest in beautiful Scranton,
PA, this
Wednesday. I have slight interest in the other bands ... but I really hacked up
the $60 to see
Ozzy. I hear he's still got it. What really makes me ill is the 12 year old
girls in khaki shorts
and spaghetti tops who'll be there just because they saw "The Osbournes" on
MTV. Opinions and
arguments welcome.
