re: Zep pix from '72 British Tour (fwd)

Mornin' gang

The guy who took those late '72 UK Zep pics has joined us. But Frank is
just a lurker at the moment, he's got alot on his plate, currently.

Frank has sure lead an intersting life. He has given me permission to
share with you what he has written me. He says he'll be posting himself,
before too long. see below

I did and I do. I lived with JPJ and his family for a few months in
'72 and '73. It might take me a while to write them up. I'm working
on my autobiography and maybe I'll skip ahead from college to my Zep
days.

Here is a bit about my background with LZ:

My connection to the group was JPJ. We became friends when he was
producing a record in LA in '72. One day he was complaining about
how analog synthesizers (like the Moog) would change pitch as they
warmed up, rendering them useless in a concert situation. About
three weeks later, I had a Eureka experience (Archimedes running down
the street naked, shouting "I have found it."). I had figured out
that I could use a computer as a synthesizer and get around John's
problem, thus inventing a digital synth. As I paced furiously around
my house for three hours, I shot holes in my theory and then patched
them up. My whole head was buzzing as if I'd taken acid.

I told John about my idea and he wound up financing my research for
over a year. He brought me over to England during the '72 British
tour and I lived with him for a couple of months. I went to many of
those concerts with him (many stories, too long to recount here).

I was able to get a borrowed computer to make music. The problem was
that my synth would have cost around $250,000. I was a couple of
years early in that affordable computer chips were a couple of years
in the future. I was asked to be their photographer, but foolishly
declined.

Best,

Frank
