with the benefit of hindsight, it's easy to say that,
esp with things ending the way they did. as far as
records, if the band had split up after making the
third album, you could've said the same thing then,
but their best stuff was still to come. and as far as
tours go, the euro thing was basically a series of
warm ups. they hadn't played together in basically
three years. they couldn't have just bounced back
after everything they'd been thru together (and
unarguably *because* of each other).

i wanted to bust in here and say that 50+ isn't
"middle aged". pearl jam are middle aged (kind of).
page, plant, the stones, et al are old. there's
really no way around that one.

i won't shit on you for that. i don't think it's a
worthy investment, but hey if it's your thing, go for
it. i personally doubt that they can muster more
enthusiasm for "can't get no satisfaction" now than
they could in 1968, but what do i know?

i'd love to see page and plant (together or
individually) launch a tour to support genuinely new
material. for as much lip service as plant pays to
"moving on", he hasn't done much of that lately.
hell, 'fate of nations' and 'walking into clarksdale'
are about his only genuine truly new efforts in the
past ten years.

thanks for sharing it.
