Geez, dude, took you long enough. Google must be slow
during the holidays.
Yes, indeed, both albums in question feature the
illustrious Jimmy Page on guitar, both were engineered
by Glyn Johns (actually, the Lincoln album was
co-engineered by Glyn, he got some help from his
brother Andrew), and both feature back cover photos
taken by none other than Chris Dreja, former Yardies
rhythm and bass guitar player. And yes, both were
recorded at Olympic Studios in London. Well done, old
fruit.
Terry Reid and B.J. Wilson were Jimmy's original
candidates for the vocals and drums spots in Zep
(respectively). "Lo and behold he'd just signed a solo
deal with Mickey Most," said Jimmy referring to Reid,
who prior to that signing was a member of the
Jaywalkers.
And yes, Mr. B.J. was the drummer in the English band
Procol Harum, well known for their hits "Conquistador"
and "Whiter Shade of Pale." PH featured the great
Robin Trower on lead guitar, albeit not all that
prominently on the tracks mentioned here.
Yes, Jimmy played on the "With a Little Help from My
Friends" Joe Cocker album, as did B.J. Wilson. Not
sure if they played on the same tracks or not. Scott?
And yes, son of a gun, Jonesy played upright bass on
the track called "Erica" on Terry Reid's "Bang Bang
You're Terry Reid" debut album, along with a cat
named, believe it or not, Billy *Bonham* on
*keyboards* - Keith Webb was Reid's drummer.
Speaking of Bill Bonham, in addition to his so most
excellent last name being the same as the dearly
departed Bonzo's, there's another Zep connection at
play here. Or are there two? Since Scott has
graciously declined the prize (and designated a
dinosaur over a *newbie* as I proposed), I'm going to
offer up the original prizes to the first person
(Scott, give your search engine a rest, mate) besides
Mr. Swanson who can tell me at least *two* ways in
which Mr. *Bill* Bonham is connected to Led Zeppelin
other than by sharing a last name with Bonzo.
Good luck.
Love,
Billy
