I'm not sure why, but since sending out this offer the other day, I have yet
to receive any replies. Come on, folks, this is one quality source of a fine
performance! All you have to do to get a copy is pledge to offer it up to
the list just like I'm doing here. And if you don't have a burner, you just
might get it absolutely free!
Here's my original post:
On this fine summer day, I arose to find a package in the mailbox containing
some aural pleasures recorded May 30, 1977, at the Capital Center in
Landover, Maryland, on the last instalment of Zep's four-night stand there.
With many thanks to Dale Eckert and the original weeder, Clay, I am offering
this set back to the list, in both SHN (for those who will continue the weed
in sufficiently generous fashion) and audio (for the burnerless; no
obligation to continue the weed) formats.
I have five slots open in all, breaking down as follows:
2 SHN (fits on 2 CDRs) for e-mail subscribers equipped to burn SHN>SHN
and/or SHN>audio
1 audio (fits on 3 CDRs) for an e-mail subscriber who lacks a burner
1 SHN for a digest subscriber equipped to burn SHN>SHN and/or SHN>audio
1 audio for an e-mail subscriber who lacks a burner
First come, first serve; open to anyone anywhere in the world. Reply with
your postal addresses. If you're unsure about how a weed works, just ask.
This comes advertised as Master>DAT>CDR. I have little reason to doubt this,
as the disc times perfectly match those given by Chris Gust on his web page;
his copy is Master>DAT6>CDR.
This is a fine-sounding recording of an inspired performance (by 1977
standards). Pagey is consistent, Plant is in good voice, Jonesy and Bonham
are their usual rock-solid selves. I'd go into more detail, but I'll just
point you to the Ingham, Gassett and Holdren reviews at Underground
Uprising, which, IMO, provide an accurate assessment:
