I have a show that I am "hoarding", but it has nothing to do about money.
It has all to do with the fact that I gave my word to the person that
actually took part in filming the show that I would not trade it.
To some, honoring one's word is more important than money.
I also subscribe to Jeremys ideals that one should reasonably
collect all the legitimate releases before collecting boots.
I also believe that if one does collect boots, one should, at minimum,
donate a few buck-a-roonies to a related worthy cause.
We often go though a lot of hassle to obtain shows, setlists,
artwork, and the like. It is not unreasonable to expend
an equal amout of energy to make sure that some sort of
positive contribution is made.
I'm not saying that "making a donation" makes it "OK",
and absolves the sin, but rather, we must accept that we
are all sinners in this respect. We are human, and our
weakness prevails in lusting for these treasures. While
we we cannot help our addiction of collecting illegitimate
recordings, we can pay a self imposed "fine" to at least
attempt to absolve a portion of the guilt, and make sure
that some good comes about from our addiction.
