Treeing 7/17/77? Be Careful!!

Just a few words of caution may ne noted here after
the events of last week to Project Ballentine. I
personally recommend that we do not tree the Seattle
77 video on this list when it gets out.

While I am making a wild guess on what may have
motivated Warner's attack of harrasment on Chris's
website and tape tree page, it may be linked to the
Earls Court video tree on this list. We all had a
pretty good idea that if the Earls Court video got
out, Jimmy's lawyers may get busy.

While Jimmy has stated in the past he doesn't mind
fans collecting live material, he has always stated
that he gets upset with material from the vaults
getting out. Keeping this in mind, it would not be
inconsistent for Jimmy's lawyers to try to stop the
distribution of these tapes.

The last time we heard of Jimmy's lawyers getting a
letter out was over the Page/Crowes video's of the
Greek Theater. This was because the video's were of
the same show of a forthcoming live album. There were
no orders of cease and desist on the Roseland videos
of Octber 12-14, 1999.
>From what I have also heard, a cease and desist order
was given to someone a few years ago to someone who
was selling via mail order the P/P Irvine Meadows pro
shot video. This person was offering other P/P videos,
but this was the only one that was being hassled over.

Have any other Zep related sites been given a cease
and desist order recently?

I am being cautious, but I do see a pattern of
behavior here. Atlantic's order may be justified to
them and to Jimmy's wishes that material from the
vaults do not get openly distributed.

It is just a gut feeling to me, but I don't believe
that treeing the video on this list would be a great
idea. if this list was to become a target of
Atlantic's witch hunt, distributing stolen material
would not look good when we try to defend our actions.
In the case of audience recordings, we can use Jimmy's
words as a defense of consent.

My advice would be to get the video from sources
outside this list. I would try to discourage people
from posting the have the tape for trade. Also to be
discourage would be people posting that they are
looking for the tape. The only posts about the tape
should be a review and the review should not tell
people how to get the video.
