Is anyone else reading this book? I'm about 3/4 of the way through.
I'll post a better review latter but its pretty good. Its quite an easy
read and includes loads of interviews from people who dealt with Grant
directly. Even the Richard Cole qoutes aren't over the top. The personal
stuff like Grants divorced is discussed but not in an overly tabloidish way.
It sticks to the facts. The early days are quite interesting and even
Little Richard and the Everly Brother are qouted. They still remember him.
One of my favourite bits so far is how/what happened with the Song Remains
the Same film. A disaster from the start. No wonder it doesn't really
work. Best bit about the movie..when the zep boys go to a screening of a
rough cut of the film and Bonham starts laughing at the sight of Page in a
beard as an old man. I thought that part was great.
You really get to see how the entire Zep organisation worked and how no one
could ever work like that again. Its a completely different enviroment now
and Grants management style wouldn't work.
I think Zep was starting to tire of Zep in the later years and even had
Bonham not passed away I don't think they would've stayed together for much
longer. I think they were all tired and had had enough.
