Hi all,
Well, I gotta disagree with some of you folks. I watched the MTV stuff
with one of my housemates, and I always feel that the reaction of the
Zeppelin-unaware is a fairly good indicator of how things really are. Her
reaction, and mine, was basically "Oh my God, how awful". Page sounded
feeble and pathetic. Apart from the fact that the Limp Bizkit guys sounded
shite anyway, Page's paerformance was just attrocious. Embarrassing even.
I've been a long tme "Page apologist", but no more. Enough is enough. that
performance is going to make older Zep fans cringe and younger non-zep
fans say "Who's the old guy on guitar who cant actually play?".
By the way, ditto for the Earls Court Video. How absolutely disappointing,
that the performance is so awful. The pictures are great, but PLant's
voice is stuffed and should be acknowledged as so, and Pagey, well, this
is possibly the low point in Zep history as far as 'm concerned, maybe
even lower than what he sounded like at Knebworth.
I thin it's time for all Zep fans to grow up. Some of us are guilty of not
being able to acknowledge a poor performance from our favorite band.
