1. THere is a weird UFO in the sky, it is the topic of my radio show
right now, someone suggested it is the space station. There are red, blue
and green lights, it looks like a star at a first glance but the more you
look at it the more you see....too bad I have no telescopes....
2. Has anyone else ever heard the North Mississippi All Star's version of
"Shake 'Em On Down?" The song that was originally done by Fred McDowell
and soon after covered by Bukka White was the main influence on both "Hats
off to Roy Harper" and "Custard Pie" and thier cover is probably one of
the most unique blues covers I ahve ever heard. In that one song, there is
country, rock, rap, techno and blues elements and it is really well done.
It's more rock and blues then anything else......but their CD "Shake Hands
with Shorty" is worth checking out, it's mostly blues with a few covers,
one of them being Fred McDowell's "Drop Down Mama" which is where other
lyrics from "Custard Pie" come from.
3. I slowed down "The Ocean" and "The Song Remains the Same" and sped up
"No Quarter" and now all those songs sound more natural....what is the
deal with all the speed changes on HotH? Like...NQ, I can completely
understand, it adds to the mood, but I think I'd like TSRTS better if it
wasn't sped up.....
4. I have a bootleg, on vinyl, there are 4 albums......could someone tell
me what show this is?
5. zoso.net's web page is soon going to be going through a major overhaul,
please email me with any suggestions or ideas that you have for the site.
My goal is to put Buckeye's zep page out of business.....
6. Got my Holy Grail, special thanks to Mike Anderton who, despite my
slowness in getting the tapes to him he got the video back to me in no
time. A few comments- the quality IS horrid.....but screw it. I feel
blessed to have it. the drop offs are annoying in some spots, but once
again the thrill of having it is great......loved the comment about "None
of this 'with a purple umberella and a fifty cent hat'" quotation and the
whole Neil Young impression "Ol man take a look at my life I'm a lot like
you (her?)" This show is pure evidence about how Robert's voice gets
better and better as the show goes on, his voice has some horrible
blunders at the beginning but as the show goes on he has less and
less.....I never knew Bonzo sung backup vocals on "Bron-yr-Aur Stomp"
wither....too bad the audio quality is low on that particular song.....as
someone who doesn;t have a lot of zep videos, this is great, especially
something that has been so sought after for so long. The quality is just
as I expected so I am vertainly not disspointed. You want to see bad
quality you should see the Jefferson Airplane video set that I have. The
best footage on their is equal to the quality of this.....trampled just
started, man Plant's voice is so much stronger now, I've only heard one
crack in the first 3 verses.....Loved the gallows pole lyrics at the
end....And that Yell during Dazed and COnfused.......I think it was a
slighly higher note then any of the notes in "Baby Come On Home" and while
it is very unsteady and can't really be counted as a single note, I think
that is the single best and most appropriate Plant yell that I have ever
heard....incredible, I had to rewing that and watch it 5 times......I am
not sure, but I think Jones has stood in the same exact spot since he
stood up......why do they always glue his feet to the stage???!?! It's
interesting hearing "Woodstock" rather then "San Francisco" at the
"Achilles part" of "Dazed"....overaLL I gotta give it an A. Or a C.
Depends on how many beers I've had.
7. The topic of backmasking Stairway is up again. This topic has been beat
to death in the past. But here is my take on it for the 20 millionth time.
Of course they didn't sit there and say "Well what can we say to spread
the words of Satan?" however, it is amazing when you listen to some of the
stuff how clear it is. You can't expect it to be 100% natural sounding,
IT'S NOT EVEN REAL.....but I think it is fun hearing things like "noooo
othah made-a pahth forit makes me saad whos power is satan...." and
"yeerstomasweesatan" and the ever famous "Theerre is no 'scapin it"
I deciphered the tune backwards and posted it quite some time
ago.....other lines that stood out "Ah, he was a mean T-Shirt" and "I love
Jefferson Airplane" (which Robert did!)
If you listen to Queens "Another One Bites the Dust" I understand Freddie
sings backwards "Ow! I fell out of my chair". Now if that was what you
heard playing "Achilles" backwards then I would start to wonder.....
"Achilles" backwards is freaky, the oh's during the part that they sang
"San Francisco" in TSRTS and "Woodstock" at Earls Court, the O's backwards
sound like some sort of Satanic mating chant.....
On the other hand, it IS possible that they did it on purpose to screw
with our heads. They did a good job with that. Jimmy's red eyes in TSRTS?
The Object? "represents any object within a community that everyone is
perfectly at home with" It represents a "force." What force are we talking
about here???!??!?!?!??!!!??!?!
8. Hey Jonesey bud- when the hell you gonna play at the Seadog in Bangor?
We'd love to see ya!
9. Mike Tompkins requested a song on WKIT this weekend- thanks for tuning
in Mike, sorry it took me so long to get to the song, I hadn't seen the
email because stupid me didn't check the email :) But I'm glad you caught
it!
10. Uuuuuhhhh......what the hell, let's just send this thing!
