Hi All:
I had a few emails of questions on the whole thing and using the CDR
media
indentifier...
I just wanted to claify my point on cdr media grading as i was a
little off
the first go around.
The main Crietria is the Manufacturer, only 3 Companies produce
Grade A. AS
of june 21,2001... They are Taiyo Yuden, Mitsui and Kodak ultima/Gold
( all
made in japan)
TY in the past has been used by many brands as the maufacturer, but
to date
now is only used by companies in Japan.
Note Some older TDK certs made in the USA are Taiyo Yuden Produced
and are
Grade A, but the newer ones are no longer Manufactured by them and
aren't
made in Japan, so thats why they are off the above listing.
Most of the older companies like sony, Tdk, maxell, memorex and
others are
now made in Taiwan or even Mexico.
The Dye topic is secondary and of la esser consideration
of course "Long" is most prefable of the DYE strategy to have.
But that alone DOES NOT make a cdr GRADE A.
But the main criteria is the Manufacturer
The bottom line :
Made in Japan (by the above Manufacturers) Grade A
Made in Taiwan/Mexico - Grade C
hope that helps, Todd
