Re: cdr ident link here...

That's all fine and dandy, Todd but please don't rely on CDRID for
anything
other than the nominal capacity of a given disc. All other ATIP info
(maker, dye type, etc...) can be, and often is, simply wrong. It's
better
to rely on experience, either one's own or the experience of trusted
traders, for determinations of quality. Don't buy "brands" from
resellers
who simply put their name on whatever they got the cheapest that
week. Any
new brand you run through CDRID is just as likely to be just the
opposite of
what the ATIP info reports as it is to be true. (Incidentally, the
Grade A
discs you listed closely match my own personal list. I would add
Japanese
made Fuji's to that as well. They are usually Taiyo Yuden. And you
can
always rely on the media available from cdrecordable.com - they use
the
longer lasting pthalocyanine dye in all their lines and they
currently have
their lowest cost media priced at 19 cents a piece to counteract the
the
dumping of the Taiwanese mass producers. (No offense intended, Terra!
;o) )

For an explanation I offer the following post from Charles Palmer of
cd-recordable.com:
(This is a repeat for those of you who have seen it before. Feel
free to
skip on to the next juicy post. ;o) )
