Wait a second! Hold it hold it hold it. A perfectly nice young Zep
fan is
curious about the history of Led Zeppelin here:
>>2. What drugs was the band into and how can I find out more about
>>them?
And you suggest this:
>>Ans: Read "Hammer of the Gods"... It's an excellent book which
>>chronicles the individual members lives, then the collective years
>>>>from
1969 thru and after Bonham's death in 1980)
Are you insane? "Hammer of the Gods" is tripe. I'm not doubting
some of
the veracity of some of it, but it's tabloid-esque and idiotic. If
you
REALLY like Led Zeppelin, you'll be wise to look past this sordid
piece of
trash which passes of rumors as fact. Some of those rumors may be
fact,
but some may not be. Yes, LZ was crazy wild in their day, but these
books
are ridiculous.
You'll do better to learn about Led Zeppelin's history by hanging out
on
this list for awhile.
>>Also, Richard Cole (the group's tour manager/main roadie) wrote his
>>>>own
book, "Stairway to Heaven". It's a little more "dishy" >>than
"Hammer", but
a very fun, easy read! He was there for all the >>madness from
'70-'80
and he names names and dishes the dish! I >>loved it
(spit out my coffee)
Again, don't let the name Richard Cole fool you. The band has
disowned
this book. Cole was too smacked out to remember this, and in turn,
the
book is riddled with errors.
As for the original question -- all the members did drugs, and did it
to
insane excess. This is true. But please don't take "Hammer of the
Gods"
or "Stairway To Heaven"' as being official, true biographies.
