Sure, Hot Dog isn't great, but six good songs out of seven is not a
bad ratio.

ACK! for those of us who enjoy Hot Dog, i must now slap you with a
bunch of
lupins. ; ) c'mon on, now----HD is such a wonderful take-off on the
whole
country genre. okay, so his dog didn't divorce him, and his wife
didn't bite
him, but hey.....he's got that whole achy-breaky voice thing goin'
great.
the only thing that just doesn't fit is the dungarees. think ol'
Percy
should've spent a bit more time in the states....my grandmother used
the term
dungarees, but everyone else i've ever known said "jeans". (yeah, i
know,
not enough syllables. so how about, "my old, blue, dingy jeans?"
or, "my
old, blue, Wrangler jeans"? or even, "my old, blue cut-off jeans"?
<G>)

as to how timeless the early albums are, the only clunker i ever hear
is
Thank You. sorry, guys, it's PBS at his worse. however, i think the
continuing success of Zeppelin's album sales 21 years after they
stopped
existing speaks for the timelessness/contemporary relevence of their
entire
body of work (even the first 2 albums). it's not the same folks
buying the
same music over and over again.....they still have an incredibly
thriving
fan-base. we have folks on this list who've heard their parents and
grandparents talk about going to Zep concerts. yes, it is a matter
of
personal preference, but sweeping statements about the current
relevence of
any of Zeppelin's songs/albums are undoubtedly going to raise the
hackles of
more than a few FBOers. as far as "heavy" goes----try Mozart,
Beethoven, or
Mussorsky (sp?).
