More Mixer Ramblings

1. While I missed the post that said that the first two Zeppelin
albums
were outdated, I saw a response, and my response to the original post
that
I didn't see is....... WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING? I'd have to
agree
with the response that these are two of the heaviest albums ever
recorded....maybe the recording equipment was old and you don't like
the
"sound" of the albums, but personally, I think they are also the two
best
engineered Zeppelin songs, especially the second album. It has this
real
warm, unique, analog sound that I don't know of any other albums that
capture such a unique "in-your-face" sound. Just ebcause I work in
radio
doesn't mean I don't have a bit of knowledge about engineering, I
think
that the second album and Floyd's "The Wall" are the best engineered
albums of all time; wish that I had the talent and ear to create
something
similar!

2. Speaking of radio, an embarrassing thing happened to me while on
the
air the other day, thanks to the wonderful world of spam.....the
station I
work at encourages you to play as many requests as possible (within
reason) and I was "front-selling" (letting people know what songs are
coming up) a few songs shortly after announcing the request numbers
and
email address.......an email came in while I was still talking and
front-selling, so I figured hat since it was 3 AM, it must be a
request.
So I look at it, while still on the air, and open it up, and almost
lost
it when the subject-less email's body read in big giant letters:
"Increase your Penis Size in 3 days!" This folks, is why
corperate-money-saving pre-voice-recorded radio is evil and locally
owned
mom-and-pop stations that are live kick ass.....you never know what is
going to happen while that mike is on.

3. If Plat's concerned about a few simple voice crackson the Earls
Court
show, then how the hell did the BBC version of Immigrant Song get
released? His "chainsaw" yells pretty much suck in this and ruin the
song
for me.....it's probably my least favorite live Zep song because the
main
part is ruined. Luckily Jimmy's solo makes up for it. Hey it's not as
bad
as the outtake version of "Fool In The Rain"....
"....just a fool waiting on the wrong
BloAAAooooOOAOOOAAAAOAOOAOAOOAOCK"
OUCH

4. Keep that bootleg trading up. While you do it, the spirit of Peter
Grant is waiting for you in Heaven (or hell?) with a baseball bat....

5. Rich FBOer's to pay for the DVD. Is Stephen King on this list? We
know
JPJ is lurking, comeon Jonesey, fork it up! :)

6. I cannot think of one concert that I have ever been to where at
least
one mron in the crowd doesn't yell out for "Freebird" "Freebird Man!
Do
freebird!" So don't take offense that you heard it at Robert's show, I
heard it at both the Page/Plant shows I was at, every Hot Tuna show,
Aerosmith once, The Kinsey Report and Jefferson Starship.

7. To all of you who were lucky enough and not a broke recently
graduated
college student such as myself....YOU SUCK :)

8. For some reason, the girl who refers to herself as "zepgirly"
sounds
cute.....

9. Kudos to the band "Everclear" for mentioning Led Zeppelin in their
song
"AM Radio." While I am not a huge Everclear song, my opinion of them
went
up several notches after noticing this in that song.....and it is one
of
their better songs IMHO.

10. Saw a funny store in the paper that has no relevence to the list
but
it is funny..... here in the Bangor, Maine area, police charged a kid
with
marijuana possession after watching him through the window rolling a
joint. Why were the cops watching him roll a joint? Well it seems his
brother had called the police about a harrassment charge and they were
stopping by to have him fill out a report. The moral to this story is-
DON"T ROLL A FUCKING JOINT WHEN THE COPS ARE COMING OVER.

That's all for now folks, cathyall on the flipside
