Hi everyone.
Very intriguing topic. My opinion is that a funeral should really be a
celebration of a person's life. It is tragic of course that someone has
died, but the service should remember the essence of the person in addition
to comforting those left behind. I have attended a very somber, traditional
service recently that really made me feel worse by the time it was over and
by no means did it feel like it was personal memorial to the man who had
died.
The music that is played really should reflect the individual. That could be
any inspirational hymn, rock and roll, country, jazz...whatever. My husband
can pick whatever music he would like to hear for himself at my service, but
he also knows to include Stairway (all of it) and Tangerine. Maybe a few
people might be shocked, but those who really know me would definitely
understand.
