Chris!
You have hit upon a great idea! There must be a free program out there that
allows you to assign SPMTE timecodes to both the audio and the video, and then
just tag certain points as "landmarks" (cymbal crashes work nicely) in the
recording for the computer to use as a sync. I may be totally off the mark
here, but just a suggestion. My buddy does computer animation and that's what
he does. This process could be used to sync up all sorts of video to better
audio, especially old 8mm films.
Any ideas?
