Re: Led Zep III Promo

I can't get at my reference book right this sec but if I recall correctly,
white label promo copies of Zep albums were always worth a substantial
amount more than the regular release vinyls. I seem to remember a number in
the 100 to 150 dollar range but I won't guarantee that it was in reference
to LZIII promo. But also keep in mind that anything less than mint
condition for both the vinyl and the cover subtracts a great deal from the
<relative> value - even a very good to near mint condition can cut as much
as 50% from the mint price. Fair vinyl and a very good cover should be
priced even less - possibly even as much 75% or 80% less than mint.

Please also realize that these numbers I'm so glibly throwing around really
only apply to the theoretical world of "record collectors" - that is,
people in the business of collecting records - not fans. All the price
books are meant to be used as guide only - the real value of the record is
what ever you are willing to part with in order to have it, regardless of
condition and as long as you understand that it can't really be considered
an investment if it's even the tiniest bit less than perfect mint condition.
Collecting vinyl as a fan is whole lot more differenter than collecting
vinyl as a collector. ;o) I have a lot of vinyl that I wouldn't sell
because a) I love it and b) nobody would buy them in the condition they are
in - I played the hell out of some Zep before CDs came along. ;o)
Anyone interested in an un-opened copy of Poison's "Open Up And Say Ahhhhhh"
with the original uncensored cover art? ;o)

Hehehe - that's what I thought.

:o)
