Frank,
The Complete Studio Recordings as a set has only the studio albums
I, II, III, IV, Houses of the Holy(HOTH), Physical Grafitti(PG),
Presence, In Through the Out Door(ITTOD) and Coda.
It doesn't have ther live concert material - The Song Remains the Same(TSRTS).
The Complete Studio set is also absent the rich inspiration of the full
size artwork of the original vinyl releases. It does have a CD sized
harbound mini book with thumnail photos of the front covers. The individual
CD remastered issues have a watered down version of the vinyl work.
The Complete Studio art package does the original artwork a real disservice.
If you are interested in the art work, then collect all of the studio
releases in vinyl.
For example In Through the Out Door came out in an almost plain brown
paper bag and had six different cardboard outer sleeve covers, with
different inner sleeve covers that were like a children's pre-painted
watercoloring book.
All you have to do is get a brush and water and color the picture in any
way you like.
Thus, any Zep listener could paint Led Zeppelin. This cover concept display
a conflict in a gathering place from multiple points of view to show that
the truth of an event was different for each person involved.
Really clever, art, imitating life, imitating art.
Jimmy was in control of the art direction on the original studio release
artwork.
The artwork on
III, IV, HOTH, PG, Presence and ITTOD is remarkable and each album has it's
own personal tale to go with it. They show that Pagey's not only a musician
but
an "idea" man as well.
Sincerely,
Shar
