First off, a slight correction.  The guys are not in their late fifties.  They
are in their early fifties.  But, enough nitpicking.  I agree that it's
kinda cool
that they can still rock (somewhat) in their old age (early fifties).
However,
it is important to note that everything we've heard about Jimmy (54 or 55,
I think) and
Robert (51 or 52 I believe) have really just been rumors.  We have really
have no
concrete evidence that Robert (quite young looking, except for his face)
is doing a country album, or that he is being an ass (which isn't unheard
of, though).  
Actually this reminds me of a quote from Plant (then in his mid to late
forties) in 1993 in
concert in Paradiso, Amsterdam.  Forgive me if I paraphrase a bit:

Robert to the Crowd: Do you feel good?
Crowd: Yeah! (wild applause)
Robert to Crowd: Do you like Garth Brooks?
Crowd: Yeah! (even more wild applause)
Robert to Crowd: You're fuckin' mad! You'll say yes to anything, I've heard
about you Dutch.
