Certainly you jest, Rob! I must politely disagree about the performance
quality of the Toronto '71 board tape. If you can name me a better
performance of Celebration Day, I'll have to eat my hat. The Toronto '71
board source is worth having for that one track alone, IMHO--one of the
high points of the 1971 shows. The PlantRants about loud crowds during the
acoustic set are also very cool in a retro, charming-naivete sort of way.

The other tracks aren't their best from that time period, but the band's
standard then was very high. If Toronto was the first source you heard
from that time period, you'd probably be happy with it. To be honest,
however, it would lose a bit of luster after you started picking up other
shows from around the same time.

But really, anything from August or September 1971 is worth having in any
length, in any quality. Newbies, if you start collecting anywhere, start
there. The quality isn't always the greatest, but without any hyperbole,
those are some of the most amazing concerts in rock history, period.

All this is of course IMHO! Discussion encouraged.

Regards,

Dan
