Hoarded shows - a rational approach

Hi all
As many of you may be aware, I'm interested in getting my hands on every
possible Zep shows that is out there. My greatest interest is in those
shows which are extremely rare, or hoarded shows. There are many rumours
floating around regaridng shows such as Seattle pop festival 1969, Denver
1972, Athens 1970 and some other, but these remain only rumours. Certainly
people like Luis Rey and Dave Lewis dont seem to be able to confirm the
existence of tapes of these shows.
HOWEVER, i was reading through "The Concert File" the other night and I
have come up with a number of questions. Many of the entries contain
details and comments about setlists which could conceivably have been
taken from newspaper articles, reviews, or even comments from poeple who
were there. In other cases though, ther comments give me the impression
that either Dave Lewis or Simon Pallet has heard a tape of some of these
shows. Here then is, perhaps, proper evidence, rather than rumours, of the
existence of further hoarded shows. Below I have listed some of these. If
anyone wants to read up on them in the "Cconcert Fiule" book and get back
to me with their thoughts, I'd be most interested to hear what they have
to say about the possibilities of these shows existing.....

29th June 1969 Royal Albert Hall - a detailed setlist is provided and
there are comments which sound like a tape review....

17th October 1969 - detailed setlist. Could easiliy have come from a
review, or newspaper/magazine, but the possibility of this show existing
is intruiging given it's importance.

18th July 1970 Frankfurt - Comments about Bron-Yr-Aur being played with
That's the Way. This cant have come from a newspaper/magazine or verbal
comments, because no one would have known the tilte of Bron-Yr-Aur, or
even that it was a different track from That's the Way.

23th MArch 1971 Marquee club, 24th March 1971 Sutton - Partial setlists
provided and no references to newspaper reviews or other sources, although
comments are provided about the shows.

10th May 1971 Liverpool - Comments about the arrangement of Gallows Pole
lead me to believe that someone has heard this. Given that the song wasnt
played much, how could anbyone have heard other versions of this song at
other concerts so thatb they could compare the arrangments???

16th September 1971 - Complete Setlist provided.

11th November 1971 - Newcastle. Probably the most intruiging reference in
the book. A complete setlist is provided. There are comments about
Robert's voice and Jimmy's guitar which sem to be the sort of thing you
get when people are able to comapre many concerts (in the way that we do
when we review bootlegs for example. Robert's voice sounded sick a week
ago, but is rapidly recovering etc). Another commnet is that "Rock and
Roll is now added and given it's correct title". If this was from a
newspaper/ magazine review, they wouldnt really know that it had been
called anything else prior to this point would they??? There are also
comments about Bonzo's love of Newcastle Brown Ale. The sorts of between
songs comments that you wouldnt really expect a reviewer to comment on....

28th and 19th October 1972 Montreaux. Detailed, identical setlists. No
other comments provided. Where did this info come from??

11th and 12th December 1972 Cardiff. The stuff from the 12th is readily
available and the setlist shown for the evening only includes the songs
that are on the tape. However, the setlist for the 11th is complete. Where
did this info come from??

30th January 1973 Preston. Cmoplete setlists and comments on the
perfrmance comparing it to other nights on the tour.

13th April 1977 Minneapolis - detailed setlist and comments that the
performance is much better than the previous night which dont seem to have
been written by a reporter......

So, there you go. If anyone has any thoughts on these comments, or my
reasoning and the way I've arrived at my conclusions, I'd really like to
hear from them.

Chio
