I was one of those standing in the River of Piss (looking for Charon to ferry
me across). It was almost exactly as disgusting as you might have imagined,
although you rapidly became accustomed to its delicate aroma. It was only when
the generous folk next to you in the queue held your place while you go and buy
coffees that it hit you with a vengeance! (Thanks to the chap that bought me a
cuppa at 5:30am! I'll buy you a beer in the Firkin a week on Wednesday).
I arrived at about 3:45am having spent the evening at a friend's in Whitehall,
and was very grateful when the security guard closed the queue up so that we
emerged onto Tottenham Court Road and away from the Styx.
Incidentally, I received a black and white sheet of paper advertising the gig
through the post on Friday. Did anyone else get one, and does anyone know who
sent them?
