My Phil of the missing 25 cents

Here's my Reply to Thor's comments.:

I can agree with that as both parties may run into each other on a weekend
known for already having enough of it's own "fireworks displays".

I don't think that Trinifold periocically having people monitor the internet
is all bad. It gives them a small way of statiscally sampling how the fans
feel on certain issues. They need a feel for understanding such issues as
why collecting live tapes is so important to the fans.

In some cases it is needed as there are people on the net that may use
Trinifold's name, along with Robert and Jimmy's name in some form of an
abusive way.

In the case of Bill McCue's comments on the Zeptrek site, he is basing his
arguements on the band's right to privacy. If I really believed that this
website would lead to a rash of visitors to Robert and Jimmy's homes, I
would have been the first person to report this to the management company. I
do strongly believe that if Bill thinks he really is right on this matter,
he should let Trinifold be aware of the situation as the issue's of the
band's safety and privacy are not issues that Trinifold would deal with very
lightly. I also would look at it that if Bill did not report the website to
Trinifold after expressing his concerns to the list, it would make him look
bad. The way I see it is that if Bill does not report this to Trinifold, it
would be because his cause for concerns are unfounded. If that's the case,
all Bill is doing is finding a away to harrass these ladies.

I agree that we all have a right to privacy and I don't believe totally in
the concept of free speech as "a man's got to know his limitations". I just
do not see how this website will inspire people to show up at Robert's
doorstep as part of the plot to catch him at home is to know when he's at
home, not on holidays or staying at other residences he may or may not own.

 Second, because an initial
>intervention will inevitably lead to a subsequent one, and then a
>third...and pretty soon, all these well-meaning fans with a small scan of
>the Swan Song logo and a couple old .wav files will be getting "cease and
>desist" letters from Trinifold, Atlantic, ASCAP, BMI, and every other legal
>authority in the music biz.

I don't think asking Trinifold to intervene when there's an issue of
security is unreasonable, but I do think that getting them involved in
"petty matters" as described above is something they would waste their time
with.

I am not saying that a "judgement is neccessary. I only believe that if a
fan comes across something like this issue where there are accounts of fans
dropping in on private residences of Rock Stars, it would be prudent for
people like Bill McCue to report this to Robert and Jimmy's management
company and if they believe that some of the information needs to be taken
of the website, it can be requested and done. I am looking at this from the
point of view of the consequences of inaction.
