Ok, firstly this is Pete (HNEK) under a new name cause I have HNEK blocked to
Internet mail, makes it difficult to receive the digest or e-mail if anyone
actually felt like sending me mail. Onwards and upwards....
Re: live tuning >>Look, I'm sorry to be picky and to revisit ground recently

myself and others, but it bothers me that strange rumours like this might be
taken seriously<<
When I was learning the Zeppelin catalogue on bass, I noticed I had to retune
sharp for TSRTS. I thought it was an anomaly until I noticed I had to do the
same thing for LTTE and other boots. I was surprised (and
annoyed---interrupted my groove) but there you have it. I think it was almost
a half step. Maybe they sped the tape up a bit to make Jimmy sound like he's
playing faster, maybe hide some mistakes? I like the former answer better.
Incidentally, retuning keys is the easiest thing, just turn a knob and presto!
When P/P went into ALAIHY in the Meadowlands in 95, that was the highlight for
me. I couldn't believe me ears :>) I also couldn't believe my ears when
that Cure guy took the solos in TSRTS :>( but those days are behind us now.
What are the alltime great boots, not newbie oriented? My favs are LTTE,
Berkeley? 71 (with bowler hatted beatniks Plantation), 69 Fillmore West
w/ALAIHY, BBC 69 (w/Dazed not on BBC Sessions) , could use more. I also have
Dallas 75, doesn't knock me out; Badgeholders, which is ok but is not LTTE; a
bad copy of Blueberry Hill; 80 in Zurich, I think; Melancholy Danish etc;
Montreal 75, sounds like PLant has the flu; etc. And what's with Destroyer?
There must be two Cleveland shows right? Cause on the one I have Page is
awful, just a mess, although I like the Battle of Evermore on that one, Bron-
yr-Aur Stomp too.
That's a lot so I stop now. Jonesy rules though.
