OOPS!
you're totally right about Robert being fed up with Jimmy & his wah-wah
pedal and walking (misread an interview while under the influence of
some sinus medication). however, after Thompson's car wreck, they
continued for a while with one of Plant's roadies on drums (RP: "He was
quite good too, but the whole thing
dematerialized...."---dematerialization=wah-wah pedal & Plant's
impatience).
about the JPJ thing---Plant, pre-NQ tour in Musician magazine: "We can
reach conclusions musically and decisions very quickly, 'cause the two
of us can work it out very fast. That's probably why there's just two
of us doing it, and not three---or four or five or six. Also, we don't
have to patronize eachother. A decision is a decision, and if you can
do it real quick, you can cut a lot of the pleasantries out and say,
'Yeah, that's good,' or 'No, that's not.' Just by having it
one-to-one."
since they don't seem to have changed their opinions in the past four
years, I really doubt we'll ever see a Plant/Page/JPJones studio session
or tour.
