Hi Everyone;
I am getting adjusted to a new computer and getting used to a new email
system and that's why I was using the "Zepfest98@xxxxxxx" account. Could
all replies be directed to this account in the future as the AOL account
will be closed.
1. The Cleveland 77 tape aired on the radio was a 2nd gen tape from the
master. It has all the dialog between songs. I can't compare it to any
other bootleg versions of that show. I know it sounded better than the
vinyl boots that ommitted all of the plantations.
2.As it stands, I still have extra tickets for Jones Beach in section 3L
(Jimmy's side of the stage).
3. West Coast Zepfest and Future Zepfests. I'd love to be able to
organize a fest on the West Coast as well. There are a lot of
restrictions on myself that would make it a difficult proposition and
they vary from things like time, an ability to find people to work with
that will promote the shows for me like the people in Cleveland did. I
tried to tie in a convention with the show in New Orleans and the
promoter did not even have the courtesy to write back to my proposal.
As Rick pointed out in an earlier post, the other people who have
organized conventions in the past formed partnerships and I have found
it best to put everything in control myself. It's the saying if you want
things done right, you must do it yourself. I had thought about forming
partnerships, but I find the way I run the conventions the best way of
being in control.
I do plan on putting on a convention sometime in the later half of
1999,but, there are a lot of variables that will decide the date and
venue. A lot of it may also depend on how long Robert and Jimmy continue
to tour. As far as alternate locations as opposed to Cleveland go, I
would look at what a city is willing to offer me for picking their city
as a convention site. What makes or breaks a convention to me is the
turnout of the local people. Cleveland was great and Niagara Falls was a
disaster.
4. The "Hotel Issue". I'd like to thank everyone for taking part in this
discussion. Once I told Rex about the situation, the ball was in their
court and they could best decide what was good for Robert and Jimmy. We
also need to realize that when one rents a hotel, it is their residence
for the day and with it being their residence, they do have a right to
some privacy.
Also if someone got hurt because of a mad panic or rush of fans, I would
have had to live with the idea that I could have prevented an accident
from happening.
The management company was informed by me of my plans to do a convention
back in April and a fax was sent to them stating that we using the
Renaisance Hotel and I was double checking with to make sure that there
were no problems in Cleveland.
5. I have a new toy with my new computer. It's called a CDR. Wish me
luck in learning how to use it.
6. See You all at Dardofest! and Don't for the Chrisfest on Saturday as
well.
Grant!
