The temptation in Cleveland to simply track Robert and Jimmy down and say
Hi was overwhelming for many of us. And I could have followed through as
those of you who've seen that if I choose to be somewhere I can be there.
The dynamic in Cleveland demanded that Robert and Jimmy enjoy what they
were doing. We want them to come back. And maybe they will under
circumstances that would allow a more personal level of interaction in the
future for a group of ardent admirers.
If we really want to make a favorable impression on them the best thing to
do is to be gentle. They're human, they're impressionable, damn it they're
artists. For those of you who found them and kept your cool, kudos to you.
Grant truly did a proper thing in disclosing to Rex that the convention was
at the Renaissance. There's only four of these guys and regardless of the
fact that they come across as larger than life on stage, they deserve
common courtesy and all due respect. In the excitement of the gala, it's
not easy to remember. So to those of you who thought Grant made a mistake I
ask you a question:
Have you ever been in fear for your life because you were the object of hot
pursuit?
Group behavior dynamics are very uncontrollable sometimes and occasionally
dangerous. I personally want these two troubadours around a long time on
their own terms and for their own sakes and agendas. If you cage a wild
songbird it may not sing anymore. These two need to be wild and free in
their own way. If they're interested in finding any of us I'm sure we'll be
getting phone calls. I've loved Robert and Jimmy as musicians for close to
thirty years now and when you really love something or someone you let the
power that attracted you to it blossom and unfold in all its passion and
beauty without chains. Gracious appreciation of their talent on our part
says more about us to them than you can guess. If they bother to think of
us at all wouldn't you rather have their memories of us be happy ones?
Sincerely,
The Pink Lady
