Cobra Equalization

Hi all,
I was hoping someone on the list could give me some pointers about
equalizing Cobra/Cobla CD titles. As you all may well know, and what
I found out after purchasing several titles in 1996-1998, is that this
outfit takes otherwise nice-sounding tapes and adds an annoying,
high-pitched sonic "tweak" to them. This, in essence, destroys the
sound. Too bad, for most of their titles had great packaging and
potential for "definitive release" status. Does anyone with knowledge
of parametric equalization have any idea if this squeal can be
equalized out, and, if so, how does one specifically have to set the
equalizer in order to remove the squeal without taking-off the top end
as well. I think you all can sympathize with the notion that it would
be cheaper for me to buy an equalizer than re-purchase the same 11 or
12 titles on another label....
Many thanks in Advance,
Brian
