Various and Sundry

Greetings Badgeholders

Yes after a long sebatical which would interrest no-one I'm back on the
list and ready to contribute my view once again.

Some areas of discussion:

1) Bonham's drum playing. Although I have a musical background and could
wax eloquent on this subject I'll slip down to a baser viewpoint for a
while in saying that I'm surprised no-one has come out with the obvious
conection that Bonzo is THE reason why Led Zep music is so great to have
sex to. Kashmir, Achilles, IMTOD, ICQY... the list is endless.

2) Whether or not PJ sounds like GTC. Sure. It sounds very much like it.
A good friend of mine who isn't even a Zep fan asked me, "Hey Dave, I KNOW
that sounds like a Zeppelin song. What is it?" Now does this constitute
"ripping-off" Led Zeppelin? Well gee do we say that Soundgarden and STP
have ripped off LZ with Superunknown and Sex Type Thing? Perhaps. But I
still believe that the farthest one can go (without actually doing a cover
of another bands tune) is to say that someone has been inspired by the
previous song and wrote one that is similar but is still in and of itself
unique. And hell, if it means that I get to hear GTC on the radio more
often, Woo-Hoo! Too bad everything couldn't follow suit so well. I'd
much rather hear a Robert Johnson tune after every Zeppelin song played on
the air rather than Jefferson Airplane or a band of similar ilk.

3) Whether P&P will have a hit single this album. This one is pretty
good. Down in LA where I was R&R-ing I heard The Girl I Love on 93.1
(oldies) and 95.5 (AOR) several times. One might even say that it is
becoming a hit down there. Everyone I know who's heard it, likes it.
Could this possibly give the boys enough resurgance in the public mind
that their new single might be accepted just a bit more than without this
recent release? Nothing like this has ever happened in my memory so I
don't have much to base on. Feedback?

Some day fire will catch up to all of us in nasty ways,
