An excerpt of WLL from the Royal Albert Hall film was broadcast last night
on CH4 TV in the UK.
The program was a one-off called Music of the Millennium, a countdown of
the top 100 albums voted by around 12 000 viewers. It was co-presented by
John Peel who announced the clip as being never shown before.
The segment lasted just under two minutes starting with the opening riff of
WLL. Mid-way there was a cut to Lloyd Grossman (!) commenting on the
track's significance.
The film was excellent full colour (my boot copy is murky b&w) but
contained the same jerky camera work and out-of-sync cuts as the boot; I
think it also had at least one bit edited out. The sound was OK, echoy and
slightly distorted , I guess it's from the soundtrack rather than the board
recording used on ICQYB Coda.
The fact that clip was allowed to be broadcast is encouraging but
considering the camera work I can't imagine a full release.
For the record Zep placements in the chart: #87 Led Zeppelin II, #74
Physical Graffiti, #64 Led Zeppelin IV (Sgt Pepper was #1)
