Well,
Time for me to get in on this thread I guess.
I think we are all taking this stuff way too seriously. I
agree that it could be a problem, but don't they have
bigger fish to fry than lowly tape traders?
I'm not saying that I would prefer this, but if it
is really that big of an issue, should we have a
second mailing list for announcing and negotiating
trades and trees that has a restricted membership?
Only people that have been involved in trades in the past
or have good references.
Also, it seems to me that the more of an issue we make
of it on our list, the more likely it is to come to someones
attention.
Reminds me of way back in college when smoking controlled
substances was popular. We were not the people that most
law enforcers were after. It was the distributors.
There were some simple rules.
1) Only party with people you know.
2) NEVER sell anything, no matter how small.
3) Never give anyone anything, but offer to smoke it with them.
I know this may offend some people, but this was the simple
set of rules everyone followed and things seemed to work out
fine.
So, I guess one should only trade with trusted traders, never sell
a bootleg for a profit, always trade bootlegs instead of trading for
money.
Just my views,
Pete Brower
