Peter Grant's Revenge / New Thread

Well, I finally have a moment to give something back to this list and
my Zep friends in the form of a great Peter Grant story -- this is a
must read.

But first...
I recently picked up all of the Jap CD re-issues that feature the
original album artwork. As far as I'm concerned these are definitive
Zep CDs for collectors. They are really great - the best versions to
date. I picked them up for the low price of $16 (each) when I was
visiting Vancouver. These Jap CDs are readily available to Zep fans
everywhere at prices that seem to be lower then typical Jap imports. I
then realized that I have now purchased the complete Zep catalog (I -
Coda) 5 times! I have the LPs, 1st issue CDs, Remasters 1&2, "Complete
Recordings" box, and now the Jap CDs. I don't have all audio cassettes
or the individual remastered CDs. This is some great marketing. If at
first you don't succeed - no worries we can fix it and sell it again
over and over.

A possible new thread...
How many times over have you purchased a complete set of Zeppelin's
recordings? Am I the only person gullible enough to buy the entire
catalog 5 times?

PETER GRANT STORY
I work with someone from England who was the manager of Music Land in
London during the '60s and '70s. Music Land is a retail record store
that I believe no longer exists in the UK. I asked Mike about Led
Zeppelin and his eyes lit up. "Oh yes. Peter Grant's band now there
was a great manager." Mike proceeded to tell the following story...

The year is 1971 (I'm thinking it might be more like '72). Mike was
getting ready to close the Music Land store for the day when in marched
Peter Grant accompanied by two "huge guys" holding bats. Peter glanced
into the the Zep in and grunted "Blueberry Hill!" Music Land had copies
of the new (also first) Zep bootleg. Peter was nice about asking Mike
and 2 other workers to step back into the manager's office. Peter and
his men proceeded to destroy the entire store. They left it "in
splinters." I asked if the police were ever called and he said no.
After all, we were selling boots. Just another case of Peter and the
Mighty Zep wielding their power. Mike had nothing bad to say about
Peter. In fact, he said he was very polite - just doing what he had to
do.

Ramble On,
Mike from LA
