Hello All-
I unsubscribed for awhile before Xmas for personal reasons (yeah, I know
I sent that to the list by mistake at first!), but am now back to lurk
in digest mode. Reading through the digests was very interesting! Will
now throw in my two cents on a few of the threads I missed, and then
back to lurkdom!

Yes it is, but strangely enough he didn't actually write it! Phil
Johnstone told me that he wrote it, handed it to Robert, and said "here,
it's called 'I Believe'." Those two were a lot more in synch than most
realize, and at the same time drove each other nuts. The video turned me
off so much that I never watched it again after the first time. I think
I actually found it embarrassing because of the Christ like imagery,
which Robert could not have failed to notice no matter who wrote the
video, because one thing he is not is a dummy. At the same time he had
a song out called "Dark Moon" in which he sang about being "crucified",
so I really felt it was a bit OTT. Still love him anyway.
(2) About Plant being a smart man, there was a thread awhile back about
how learned or well read he is-I think most would be quite surprised at
both his IQ and his education. He actually "majored" in school in
'Medieval History". The kids in Britain actually get finished with
'regular' school a lot younger than we do in the States, and go on to
'college', 'art school', or 'technical college' a lot younger as well,
so he already had quite a good education before he went off to be a
singer. His self education on the history front was fueled by growing up
in an area so near to the Welsh border that is steeped in history and
legend. He is an extremely well read person, and I'm sure he knows
exactly what symbolism he puts into his lyrics, it is just that we may
not always be in on the 'joke'. Example: in the song "All my Love", I
assumed that "proud Arianne" referred to the Greek Ariadne, simply
because it fit in with the whole 'weaving and spinning' theme of the
song-but Robert told me that the word is actually "Arian", and is the
Welsh word for 'gold' or 'money'! I checked it out and he wasn't
fibbing, but hey, the song never seemed the same to me again!
(3) A quick retake on an earlier post-that Plant "Best of" album was
actually called "Ten From Forty Seven", released only in South America
in January of 91.

Love them! Since I'm living back in the States now I really miss going
to see them play! There is such a real sense of 'family' with the
Fairporters and the fans, really casual, like I have not found before
with any other group. The music is the best, and so are the folks in the
band (not to mention Chris Pegg-organizer extraordinaire!). Looking
forward very much to catching them in the States this year, or if I'm
really lucky I'll get Cropredy as a birthday gift again (hint hint)!

Dear Sir or Madam,
If you got a life of your own you might not be so angry at those who
have had very interesting ones! Shar is a very nice lady who just
happens to have had the luck to meet lots of music folks-I don't think
this qualifies anyone for the title "whore".
Tis enough for now! Hope everyone had nice holidays!
Diane
