Well Hugh did bring up some points that I've agreed with all along and it
really boils down to how practical busting tape collectors is.
While we are on the subject of minimizing risks.
1. When sending packages from one country to another country, try not to
make anything on the package look suspicious. When I get packages there is a
stamp on it that says either "cleared customs" or "examined and cleared
customs" The examined, means that the customs inspector has opened up the
package and looked at the contents.
Some people like to send packages in the mail and find it cute to call the
sender something like "Black Dog Recordings". The problem is the inspectors
see something like this and it makes it more tempting to inspect the package
as opposed to if the sender just used their own name.
A case in point, I recently had a package held up through the customs
because of this. The sender called himself "Cosmic Jimmy".
2. Other people who have taken cheques for the sale of boots had stuff paid
to a phoney name. One friend of mine who was a big Rolling Stones collector
had people make their cheques payable to: "KEITH RICHARDS".
Happy New Year Gang!
