Zep By Numbers

1.) A couple of upcoming releases to keep an eye out for that
are not on the mail order "coming soon" lists yet. "Long Island
Line" Nassau 6-15-72 2CD (Image Quality label); "LA Jive and
Rambling Mind" L.A. 3-27-70 2CD (Holy Grail); "Osaka Woman"
Osaka 9-29-71 3CD (Cobra Standard).

2.) I know the stories behind the taping of many shows, but must
say that Ottawa 4-14-70 is still a mystery to me. A fantastic show
despite a multitude of edits. Still only issued on disc in the ridiculous
box set. Does anyone know who taped this show? And if there is a
possibility that more exists?

3.) Did you know: that the recording of a certain Zep show was
apparently taped by the son of one of the characters from the
once popular TV comedy "Green Acres"? Do you know which
show?

4.) It strikes me as ironic that we, as the Led Zeppelin mailing
list, have adopted a name that has basically NO Led Zeppelin
significance attached to it whatsoever. In a career that spanned
an 11 1/2 year period, the term "Badgeholders" has less than 1
week of relevance to anything related to Led Zeppelin. Even then
the term is only relevant to a few Los Angeles concerts. It bears
no relevance to any Led Zeppelin single, song, album, member,
tour, influence; nor to anything recognizable to the everyday fan
of the band. The only member of the band to ever even utter the
phrase being Robert Plant, who is known for nothing if not the
vacuousness of his concert commentary (i.e. the term means
about as much as most of his convoluted ramblings) Might as
well have named the list "Suck It" in tribute to his fascination
with this phrase... plus it would be a more appropriate title for
most of what goes on on this list.

5.) Whenever I take the time to listen to the Milan '71 fragment,
I think that: In addition to the police brutality aspect of it, the
incident at the Vellodrome was a real shame, because the band
was really on fire up to the point where the recording comes to
an end. This would have been one of those special concerts.
Plants voice is simply devastating in this show; overpowering
the microphone.

6.) Nothing is as exciting as Led Zeppelin circa '69.

7.) "Popular response validates a post" my #$%. The validity
of a post depends upon the value/merit of its contents. For
example, this post has about 0% validity. According to Jean's
definition of validity, the spam the list received a month ago
are the most valid posts this list has seen to date, for they
certainly generated the most response. Likewise an Eddie
Edwards masterpiece which goes unanswered would be
invalid/valueless. With this kind of reasoning, does anyone
really wonder why Bill McCue is no longer with us?

8.) Despite the multitude of well-documented flaws regarding
TSRTS... if Plant still had his circa U.S. Tour '72 vocals at the
time of these shows, all would be forgiven.
