After a while it will be no more problem than people copying tapes and CD's
and giving them away. That is the reason a percentage of every blank tape
you buy goes to be distributed to all recording artists--and I think it has
recently been extended to blank CD-R's.
For a time, because most people won't have the equipment to download and
copy, people will have to ask their friends who do to get any music for them
that isn't available in the stores. But after a time it will be as common
for people who really care to have the capability to download music as it is
for them to have good audio equipment.
I also would not be surprised to see some kind of arrangement worked out
once there is more available on the WWW, so that music store chains can
legally download the music and sell copies to customers. Actually, I would
expect the stores to like that--no stock to handle, return, sell at a loss,
etc. Jean
