Hello French Tinglers:
Though not technically Zep tingle, I just got my copy of the P/P Budokan
video this weekend (thanks Andy and Highway Star!), and there's a major spine
chill movement contained therein...from Jimmy screwing up "Rain Song" and
just laughing it off and starting again, into Nigel Eaton's magnificent
hurdy-gurdy solo intro to "Levee"...Plant and Page sitting and quietly
talking while Nigel plays...these are the images of men who have been through
the fire, and come out alive.
Nigel's hurdy gurdy evokes the history of both England and Zeppelin in a
searing moment of brilliance, and Jimmy shows how human imperfection can
still make for wonderful art...I smile with anticipation to see Jimmy and
Robert play together again next year, hopefully with JPJ along this time...it
would be only right, Robert's family ties to Charlie not withstanding.
And is it just me, or does listening to Jimmy make everyone want to grab
their guitar...he never fails to provoke me to practice.
