Tape trading: fun or work?

Isn't the whole idea of tape trading supposed to be fun? Doesn't
spending thousands of dollars on equipment take the magic out of the
whole thing?
One reason that I started trading to begin with (aside from getting
live Zep) was that it's so damned inexpensive. It usually takes less
than $5 to get a great show that you never heard before. Compare that
to fining that $150 Tarantura CD, and you've got yourslef a hell of a
deal.
OK, so I've got middle-of-the-road equipment. Does that mean I have
to be deprived of trading? Can a high $$ Nak tape deck make that
shitty copy of the Bath Festival tape sound any better? Can you get
rid of the stupid assed "Heartbreaker" guy from LTTE? Probably not.
I guess if one wants to hoard tapes just because he has a Nak, he can
go ahead and do that, but I can still think he's an asshole.

Bless your socks,
Larry
