Evening all. Or morning, by the time AOL gets around to sending this out to
ya! Carrying on with this "Tingle" thread, we've had Zep and some solo Plant,
so I guess I'll carry on with some Page solo Tingle moments:
1: "Who's To Blame" from the Death Wish II soundtrack. I still remember
sitting in the theatre watching the movie, this song opens the movie, and you
see a view from a helicopter and when Jimmy's name appeared: Music composed
and performed by Jimmy Page, well the crowd went nuts! I sat there thinking
Jimmy was beyond description, getting a standing O at the movies, and it
wasn't even The Song Remains!
2: "Midnight Moonlight" from the first Firm album. What a beautiful, majestic
track.
3: "Someone To Love" from the first Firm album. Has to be leftover from Zep
days. The riff rocks!
4: "Wasting My Time" from Outrider. The opening riff grabs you and Jason
enters and creates that "falling down the stairs" effect and then BAM, he
hits right in sync with Jimmy. Great slide playing too.
5: "Emerald Eyes" from Outrider. Beautiful, haunting, etheral. Born out of a
moment of inspired passion. No lyrics needed here.
6: "Blues Anthem" from Outrider. A very sweet, intense love song. The live
acoustic versions with John Miles are awesome.
7: "Pride and Joy" from Coverdale/Page. Where to begin? Great Jimmy
throughout. The wonderful acoustic intro (Jimmy on dulcimer). That raunchy,
rocking riff. And, as a bonus, a Page harmonica solo! In the spring of 1993
this song was everywhere!
8: "Take Me For A Little While" from Coverdale/Page. Beautiful, inspiring
acoustic intro, awesome chorus with tons of guitar, classic solo. This one
has it all.
9: "Absolution Blues" from Coverdale/Page. The first song David and Jimmy
wrote together. After a killer intro Jimmy kicks out one of his best riffs
ever. This song rocks. It just flat out rocks. I mean it ROCKS!
10: "Over Now" and "Easy Does It" both from Coverdale/Page. A tie. A killer
electric intro on "Over Now" and the hypnotic acoustics on "Easy Does It."
The Light and the Shade! From the man who mastered it all!
A bonus: "Wonderful One" from Unleded. Still one of his most touching
moments. One song, played on a twin neck, in TWO DIFFERENT tunings! Classic
Page.
Rock on,
Jeff
Now my days are growing cold,
all my memories been told...
Why don't you take me for a little while,
sing the songs you know
will make me smile...
