Responding to Richard Allcock and others who have mentioned SF 4-27-69.
It's not that great.  

It's a show that has been around a long time and maybe that is why so
many people swear by it.  It's one of the first Zep boots I remember
hearing.  But the performance does not blow me away (except for As Long
As I Have You).

The version I have of 4-27-69 is the Kaleidoscopic 2 cd set.  The sound
on this isn't great.  Perhaps it has improved since?  Seems I remember
hearing that newer releases of this show have been cleaned up.  This one
is distorted and unbalanced at times and the sound basically
disintegrates towards the end on Dazed and Communication Breakdown.


As far as audience vrs. soundboard they can both be great.  I love the
LA '77 audience recordings, the Texas '69 soundboard, the Seattle '73
audience, Blueberry Hill audience, Jan 9th '69 soundboard, 1-9-70
sounboard, Offenbach '73 audience, Seattle '75 audience, etc...etc...
