First Time Thread

Hi Everybody,
To continue the thread, the first time that I became acquainted with Led
Zeppelin would be January 1969. I was living in a hippie commune with a
long since forgotten girlfriend. We had just finished college in 68' and
moved to Boston. At the time, there was this funky old rock club that
we'd heard about in New York that was supposed to be on par with the
Fillmore East called the Boston Tea Party. There was a band playing at
the Tea Party called Raven Wings (or something to that effect) that had
ties to some of the brothers in the commune. So we planned to catch the
band. On the bill, another band was listed-Led Zeppelin. Nobody had
heard much about the band, although a few of the songs had been played
on the underground rock station WBCN. So no-one knew what to expect.
- -Once inside the Tea Party, we discovered that Raven Wings was scheduled
to open for Led Zeppelin, needless to say the band was good, but
Zeppelin stormed the palace that night. I don't remember much about the
show, I do remember that the band played Killing Floor. But the image
that sticks out in my mind is of Page playing that psychedelic
Telecaster with his bow. The drone of the guitar swopped over our heads
across the Tea Party's dance floor. It was incredible. All the freaks
and hippies became converts that night. Twenty-eight years later, I
still remember that image of Page. Needless, to say we went back the
following night and from that point on-I saw the band every time they
played in Boston.
