Hmm I was going to post on this very subject as well.
I hated Soundgarden until I sat down and listened to 
Superunknown all the way thru.  Amazing album IMHO.
After this my interest was sparked in Soundgarden.  I have 
all their albums.  Great stuff...too bad they disbanded.
I see a lot of influence from Zep.  I have seen several 
articles with the boys from Soundgarden.  They never said (in
articles or interviews I have seen) explicitly that they 
were influenced by zep.  I know Chris Cornell has a great 
liking for the Beatles and Kim Thayhil was influenced by punk 
bands of the 70s.  Maybe somebody else has some info...
Anyways I would suggest to anyone who likes Zep to check out 
Soundgarden...I think they will like them if they really 
listen.
