When I first joined Digital Graffiti a few years back, I specifically asked
the then-list owner Matt Hill about this because I wanted to advertise
Proximity on the list, which I still do (now on this list) once every 3
months when a new issue comes out.
What Matt told me was that as long as the advertising was specifically Zep
related, and the person doing the advertising was *also* a regular
contributor to the list, that it would be OK. I guess Chris, Bruce, Thor
and the other admin-type folks on this list should make a call on this - I
have no interest in setting policy and will abide by whatever they decide -
but my admittedly self serving vote would be to keep this same policy in
existence here.
By this standard, Rick Barrett should be allowed to advertise periodically
when he's got something of interest - he was a regular contributor to DG
and plans to join this list when things quiet down for him after the
holidays. And of course I try to contribute to the list as much as I can
though it sure would be a lot easier to do if so many of you weren't at
each other's throats over petty bullshit all the time.
Anyway, that's my 2 cent's worth.
