Hi everyone!
Ever since I joined this list (recently), I have been wanting to say
something, but never had anything to add. Well, finally I have something
which I want to say. As you might have guessed, it pertains to the BBC
Sessions release.
First of all, I would just like to say that I am rather young (19) as far
as Led Zeppelin fans goes. I feel I am of a dying breed. True, many young
people out there like Zeppelin, but anymore, the majority of Zep fans my
age and younger only know the band through the radio or maybe one disk. I
think the cause of this, obviously, is that the band does not exist
anymore, putting Zeppelin in the "classic rock" category. Furthermore, this
means that those in my generation never got to see the band live, and never
got to know them the way many of you do.
I have a deep passion for Led Zeppelin, but again, being young, my interest
is still budding but can never blossom to the point where past generations
are. Anyways, finding out about and subscribing to this list is just one
more step in the development of my interest in the band, which is greater
now more than ever largely due to this list. This list has opened me up to
a whole new realm of Led Zeppelin. For instance, as stupid as it sounds, I
never knew anything about bootlegs or anything else about the dramatic
following the band has. This is probably due to my age as I said, and also
due to the fact that I was never in the right circles to know about such
things. Another thing I wouldn't have known (at least this early) was that
this new BBC stuff was coming out. And that's another thing I'd like to
comment about.
Since my live knowledge of the band, like many but not like the die-hard's,
was minimal before this release, it's incredible to me to hear such music
from a different side of Zep.
Anyways, I've written past most people's attention span already, but I'd
like to add one more thing before I go:
As this is where I go to expand my knowledge of Led Zep most often, I hate
to see when people use the list as a place to argue issues which have
nothing to do with Led Zep. I subscribe so that I can hear what others have
to say about the band or to confide in others stories as Led Zeppelin fans
as strong as everyone on this list are hard to find.
So that's my "bit". Take it as you will. Until later.
