You'll have to pardon me for not replying sooner or don't - it doesn't matter.
I know who the Sex Pistols are. They never did anything for me.
Alice as punk? What? Alice Cooper started out as shock rock which is NOT the
same thing as punk. Where did you learn your categories? Why are we bothering?
I forgot how many times I saw Alice Cooper. He and his band always put on an
excellent performance!(This was before the drugs and drink set in on them
around '76.) Don't denigrate Alice's showmanship by placing him in the same
league as The Sex Pistols. The line of reasoning I presented essentially was
this. Zep earned their position as one of the top ranking rock and roll bands.
Everything changes, but the more it changes, the more it stays the same. Robert
was worried that somehow they would lose touch with the pulse of music. Punk
was a different direction but it was not the overwhelming force that the big
boys were. The tide goes out, the tide comes back in. I refuse to compare
Johnny Rotten and his cohorts with Robert, Jimmy, Jonesey and Bonzo. There
isn't any. They could never measure up to Zep. I wouldn't go see the Sex
Pistols if you paid me or gave me a free pass. So please don't educate me about
punk's influence on music. If I want to listen to a little loud music with my
Zeppelin, maybe I'll put on some Ministry, something that shows some mastery of
lament of entrapment in an industrial-going-post-industrial age.
For the thrill of real Magick, mystery, enchantment, and spine tingling
excitement-Give me Zep-always!
Sincerely,
Shar

Midwest...")

"Who the hell needs to understand everything anyway?"
