Re: Rainer, and some other stuff

Speaking strictly for myself, I think this news makes a lot of the silly
bickering, passing flames, etc. happening on this list seem particularly
petty and childish. Interesting that only two people cared enough about
music to even comment on the loss of this remarkably talented man. I love
the two Rainer CDs I have, Worried Spirits and Inner Flame. My favourite
track on the latter is not Rude World but the title track. If you actually
like good music, go check out Giant Sand.

I notice there's no media mention of Rainer's death either. I'm not
surprised. They scarcely noticed him when he was alive. Ever wonder how
The Inner Flame might have been publicised had Page/Plant not been involved?

You're all familiar with the term "garbage in, garbage out?" The list
content of the recent past speaks for itself in that regard, certainly, but
the point is, if you want the quality to improve, you're going to have to
do something about it. You're only going to get out of the list what
you're willing to put into it.

You're very brave to post that here. ;-). While I know it's debatable, I
will say that I'm listening to Roy's music more and more. Every time I
tune in to the so-called "alternative" station, I find I can, for the most
part, predict the next riff, the next hook, and what the next rhyme in the
lyric will be. It might be light entertainment, but hardly a challenge and
not very interesting or engaging. It's remarkable how well Roy's music
stands the test of time, especially compared to what is supposed to be
"hip." I'll take Roy over (for instance) wankers like Oasis anytime.

In a separate post, I'll be posting an article by Roy. Yes, there is Zep
content. I was originally going to send it to Stormcock, but there's so
much Zep content it wouldn't be appropriate. Oh well.

Damn. See what you people made me do? I broke my seven-month rule. I
can't even claim I'm drugged up. But my paycheck is $300 less than I
thought it would be and my life sucks--I sure wish I were, but that would
only add to already insurmountable problems. Gee, I feel so moral. Pity
it doesn't help you win the lottery.

Keep smiling,
Ana
